Hi [name] and welcome to my Weekly Insight for Monday 15th November 2010
On the EDGE gets SUPPORT!
Last night we had the priviledge to attend a fundraising function for a friend who is going out on the "edge".
Graeme pilots the fastest hydro-plane in New Zealand and this Friday at Lake Karapiro he is making his attempt for the World Speed Record for this class of boat.
He will be approaching 300km per hour!
On the EDGE in anyone's mind!
The support for his adventure was amazing as friends, colleagues and supporters gathered to share in the excitement of this adventure and to raise funds to assist with the expense of such an adventure.
With single-minded intent Graeme has crafted a boat and motor to make this a reality. Apart from the financial and time commitment, the ideals of perfection in engineering and innovation, there remains an outstanding element: COURAGE
Such commitment always brings support, encouragement, offers of assistance and good wishes. Everyone is watching! Still he gives it a go! It's dangerous! Still he gives it a go!
I was thinking of business in this light too and asked if there is a parallel here. Yes, support for audacious goals, respect for focus, and admiration for endeavour do exist.
Meanwhile, average aspirations receive scant attention and support.
Is it time to set yourself some goals that are on the EDGE? You may get more support too.
Sure there wil be those who decry your aspirations but they are only drawing attention to their own lack of aspiration and fear of failure.
Why would we ever let such people hold us back?
Quote for the Week
"A hero is no braver than an ordinary man, but he is braver 5 minutes longer."
Have an awesome week and look out for my "Mother of all offers" this week.
I will let you know how the world record attempt goes
